Mushkilla’s Bristol roots are distinct in his deep, laid back delivery. Jesse James is his first collaboration with Rinse FM’s Dampé (releases on Dirt Crew / Darker Than Wax). The MC delivers a choppy but intricate flow with trademark ease whilst garage rhythms and basslines skip past jazz and R&B samples.
Bristol born and bred, Mush moved to London in 2016 where he started collaborating with
emerging artists and began to calibrate his sound. Clean flows mixed with punchy bars &
rhythmic melodies creating a sound that bridges garage and trip hop.
Dampé is a producer from South East London intimately involved in its club culture: from running warehouse spaces and booking venues through DJing and performing in groups under a slew of different aliases.
The music is made on the Thames and is a combination of analogue gear, live instrumentation and samples. Influential parties were Co Op, FWD and You’re a Melody and echoes of those dances can be heard in his productions.
